Open-plan living is the hardest space to condition in a Queensland home, and 5.0kW is where most of them start. This unit is sized for combined kitchen, living and dining areas of roughly 45 to 50 square metres with standard 2.4m ceilings, and it has the fan capacity to distribute air across the whole space rather than just the area directly in front of it.

Sizing honestly

We recommend stepping up to 6.0kW if the ceiling is raked, glazing is extensive, the area opens onto a stairwell or hallway, or the room faces west. Undersizing an open-plan area is the most common problem we are called out to fix: the unit runs flat out, never satisfies, and fails early. It is far cheaper to size correctly at purchase than to replace a struggling system in three years.
