Mitsubishi Electric installation in Brisbane

  • On-site sizing and quote — heat-load calculation based on room size, ceiling height, glazing, insulation and orientation, so the unit dehumidifies properly in Brisbane’s humidity instead of short-cycling.
  • Wall-mounted split systems — back-to-back or extended pipe runs, neat line-set routing, wall or ground-mounted condenser with anti-vibration feet.
  • Multi-split installation — a single MXZ outdoor unit running 2–8 indoor heads; ideal for townhouses, unit blocks and heritage homes with limited outdoor space.
  • Ducted and zoned systems — ceiling-space PEAD/PEA units, insulated flexible ductwork, zone dampers and controller placement, plus roof-space access planning for older Queenslanders.
  • Cassettes and floor consoles for offices, clinics, retail and rooms with no suitable wall space.
  • Electrical work — dedicated circuit, isolator, switchboard assessment, and a Certificate of Testing and Compliance issued at handover.
  • Wi-Fi setup — Wi-Fi Control (MELCloud) commissioning and app walkthrough before we leave.
  • Old system removal with legal refrigerant recovery.

Mitsubishi Electric repairs

Faults we see most often in Brisbane

  • Blowing warm air or barely cooling — refrigerant leak, dirty coil, failed capacitor or compressor
  • Water dripping from the indoor unit — blocked condensate drain, dirty blower wheel, frozen coil
  • Operation light flashing with an error code and the unit shutting down
  • Outdoor unit not starting — contactor, capacitor, fan motor or inverter PCB
  • Grinding, ticking or rattling from the indoor fan bearing
  • Mould smell from the coil and drum — very common in humid Brisbane summers
  • Wireless remote or wired controller not responding
  • MELCloud/Wi-Fi adaptor dropping connection
  • Storm and surge damage to control boards

Common error indications

Code

Meaning

Typical fix

P1

Indoor room/coil thermistor fault

Sensor replacement

P4

Drain / float switch fault

Clear drain, pump or switch

P5

Drain pump fault

Pump replacement

P6

Coil freeze-up or overheat protection

Clean filter/coil, check charge and airflow

P8

Pipe temperature abnormality

Charge or restriction

E6 / E7

Indoor–outdoor communication error

Interconnect wiring or PCB

U2

Abnormal discharge temperature / low gas

Leak test and regas

UF / UP

Compressor overcurrent

Compressor, PCB or blocked condenser

If your unit is showing U2 or P6, switch it off. Running low on refrigerant or with a frozen coil is the fastest way to kill a compressor.

Mitsubishi Electric servicing

Annual servicing keeps efficiency, air quality and warranty conditions intact — Brisbane’s dust, pollen and coastal salt take a real toll on coils.

  • Filter clean or replacement, including Plasma Quad and deodorising filter checks where fitted
  • Chemical or pressure clean of indoor coil, barrel fan and casing
  • Drain tray flush, drain line clear and antibacterial treatment
  • Outdoor condenser coil wash and fin comb
  • Refrigerant pressure, subcooling and superheat check with leak inspection
  • Electrical testing: amp draw, capacitors, contactors, terminal torque
  • Airflow and temperature-split verification
  • Ducted systems: zone motor test, duct joint, plenum and insulation inspection
  • Written service report with photos and recommendations

Frequency: every 12 months for splits, every 6 months for ducted, commercial, coastal or pet-household installations.

Mitsubishi Electric models we support

  • Wall splits — MSZ-AP (Classic), MSZ-LN Kirigamine Zen with Plasma Quad Connect, MSZ-EF Designer, MSZ-GL, plus older MSZ-GE and MSZ-GA series
  • Ducted — PEAD-M and PEA-M inverter ducted, SEZ compact ducted / bulkhead
  • Multi-split — MXZ-2F, 3F, 4F, 5F and 8B outdoor units with mixed indoor types
  • Cassettes — PLA-M 4-way cassette and SLZ compact cassette
  • Floor consoles and under-ceiling — MFZ floor-standing, PCA under-ceiling
  • Light commercial and VRF — Mr Slim and City Multi VRF (service and repair; design and commissioning by arrangement)
  • Controls — PAR-40/PAR-CT01 wired controllers, Wi-Fi Control with MELCloud, zone controllers and BMS interfaces

Discontinued models are usually still repairable; where genuine parts are no longer available we’ll tell you plainly whether repair or replacement is the smarter spend.

Mitsubishi Electric FAQs

Is Mitsubishi Electric really quieter than other brands?

Yes — the MSZ-AP and MSZ-LN series run as low as around 18–19 dB(A) on quiet fan, which is close to a whisper. That’s why we recommend them most often for bedrooms and nurseries.

What’s the difference between Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries?

They’re two completely separate companies that both use the Mitsubishi name and three-diamond heritage. Parts, controllers, error codes and warranties are not interchangeable. We service both — check the badge on your indoor unit so we bring the right spares.

What warranty applies?

Mitsubishi Electric residential systems in Australia generally carry a 5-year parts and labour warranty when installed by a licensed installer and registered with the manufacturer. We complete registration for you. Warranty excludes faults caused by missed maintenance, blocked drains, storm damage or power surges.

What size unit do I need?

Rough guide for Brisbane: 2.5 kW for a bedroom to about 20 m², 3.5 kW for 20–30 m², 5.0–6.0 kW for living areas to 45 m², 7.1–8.0 kW for large open-plan. West-facing glass, high ceilings and poor insulation all push this up, so we confirm on site.

Can I control my system from my phone?

Most current models accept the Mitsubishi Electric Wi-Fi Control adaptor and MELCloud app, giving you scheduling, remote start and energy monitoring. We can retrofit this to many existing MSZ units.

Why does my unit smell musty when it starts?

Mould and bacteria growing on the damp indoor coil and barrel fan — almost inevitable in Brisbane’s humidity. A chemical coil and fan clean fixes it; using the unit’s dry or fan-only mode for 10 minutes after cooling helps prevent it coming back.

How long should a Mitsubishi Electric last?

Commonly 12–18 years with annual servicing, which is at the higher end of the market. Coastal bayside properties should expect less unless the outdoor coil is washed yearly.

Do you use genuine parts?

Yes — genuine Mitsubishi Electric PCBs, thermistors, fan motors, drain pumps and capacitors sourced through Australian supply channels, so warranty and reliability are preserved.

Do you service Brisbane-wide?

Yes — CBD, inner north and south, Chermside, Aspley, North Lakes, Carindale, Mount Gravatt, Sunnybank, Indooroopilly, Kenmore, Wynnum, Redlands, Logan, Ipswich and Moreton Bay.
